About Dr. Dunn

I am product of Wake County Public Schools, a graduate from Needham B. Brought High School.  I love learning and sharing what I know. Since I was in middle school, I always enjoyed my business classes. My high school business teacher, Mrs. Hooper was an influence on my decision to be a business educator. When I was younger, I enjoyed business “stuff” and knew I wanted to be a “busy business person" when I grew up.

Education

I am a proud alumni of Fayetteville State University, (Bronco Pride!) with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing Education. I earned my  Masters Degree in School Administration from North Carolina State University.  My doctoral degree in Educational Leadership was earned from University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY.

Leadership Involvement

Some leadership roles and activities I have previously been involved in are: CTE Department Chair, Coordinator for the Beginning Teacher Support Program, mentor to initially licensed teachers and mentor for teachers pursuing national board certification, Advisor for Future Business Leaders of America, Coordinator for Student Support Team, PTA Teacher Representative, Partnership for Educational Success committee member and 1 of 3 teachers selected to be featured on Wake County Public Schools Recruitment  CD for distribution at Career Recruitment Fairs.

Community Projects

Community projects I have enjoyed are: Partnering with North Carolina Central University to offer Professionalism & Entrepreneurship workshops for their Empower Her Expo, host facilitator for Dove Self-Esteem Workshop in Cary, NC, sharing entrepreneur information at the Capital Area Youth Workforce Council’s Youth Summit held at Wake Technical Community College, and guest facilitator at Wake Young Women's Leadership Academy for Girls Leadership Class and their inaugural She Leads Conference.

Favorite Quote

Quote: It's Not About Position, but Empowerment
"Our influence has less to do with our position or title than it does with the life we live.  It's not about position, but production.  It is not the education we get, but the empowerment we give, that makes a difference to others".  - John C. Maxwell
